Linda Kasten - 1st Grade Teacher
I was born in Milwaukee at the end of March a long time ago. One of my first memories is of breaking my leg when I was two. My schooling began in the public school system and transferred to North Trinity when I was in second grade. Wisconsin Lutheran High School was my next school and then I attended Dr. Martin Luther College in New Ulm. I have continued to take many classes to and workshops to learn the latest teaching methods.
My first Call was to Peshtigo, Wisconsin where I taught K -3. That was a fun time. We lived in the Upper Peninsula and did a lot of fishing, hiking and biking. We then moved back to the Milwaukee area so Alan could pursue his Masters' Degree in Engineering. My next Call was here to St. Paul's where I taught 8th grade and a few other subjects. I received an emergency Call to Crown of Life in Hubertus, where I taught grades 1-4. I took 13 years off to be with my children and began teaching back at St. Paul's 15 years ago. I taught in our Learning Center for 7 years and am now teaching 1st grade and coordinate the lower grade technology.
I met my husband Alan at Wisco, and we were married after we both graduated from college. Alan was a Senior Engineer with Delphi Automotive Systems until forced into early retirement. He isa also a retired Air Force Major. He is now a part time Forest Ranger in the southern Kettle Morraine Forest. Our daughter, Kate, graduated from the United States Naval Academy in Annapolis, Maryland. She is now a Lieutenant in the US Navy. She is a Flight Officer in the E2 C Hawkeye. Our daughter, Kari, spent two and a helf years at UW Madison and is now enrolled at Gateway College in Elkhorn to get he CNA degree.
Outside of the classroom, I enjoy feeding and watching birds, and gardening. I also enjoy basket weaving! We enjoy traveling especially Walt Disney World, Washington, D. C., Annapolis, and Norfolk, VA. We built a house on five acres of land near the Kettle Moraine Forest . I have been enjoying nature and the outdoors activities offered in the area!
Teaching these children about our Lord and Savior is a great honor and privilege!
